The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $1.07 million grant to the University of New Mexico's Memory and Aging Center to conduct research regarding Alzheimer’s disease among rural populations.
Approximately 43,000 New Mexicans suffer from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association has said this number is likely to rise to 53,000 New Mexicans by 2025.
